The Missing Ring
by Keith Dunnavant

When the season started in late August, Bama ranked 24th in the nation and a national television audience tuning in for a "kickoff special".  Nobody could have seen coming what was about to explode onto the collegiate football field.

Bama stunned Clemson in front of a packed Georgia Dome and continued to march through the regular season undefeated, destroying the national championship hopes of Georgia, sending Phil Fulmer to the unemployment lines, sqeaking past both Ole Miss and Kentucky before stunning LSU in an overtime victory at Tiger Stadium.  The fun continued into November when Bama ended the streak against Auburn at Tuscaloosa to close the regular season at 12 - 0, ranked #1 in the country and a matchup with Florida in the SEC Championship Game ahead.

Though we dropped the last two games, Bama ended the season ranked #6 in the country, losing only to the eventual National Champion Florida Gators and the #2 ranked (AP) Utah Utes.  Who else can say they only lost to the top two teams in the Country?

So we look forward to 2009 when freshmen sensations Julio Jones,  Mark Ingram and Donte Hightower have another year in the system.  We say goodbye to nine scolarship seniors who held onto tradition and brought Bama back to the national elite.  And we wish good luck to those leaving the Capstone early to try their trade in the National Football League.

I figure we got to where we are today about a year ahead of schedule, but what do you expect when Nick Saban is your coach?  With another national leading recruting class about to be signed, Bama should look forward to continued success.

But who takes the helm at QB and runs the team?  Steady Greg McElroy or freshman sesation Star Jackson?

Pontiac's Game Changing Performance of the Week!

Another great photo op for our friends from the north.  Everybody wants to be seen in front of the "Tri State Tailgaters" banner on display weekly!

Below -- Nancy and Charlie welcomed family and friends to our tailgating site on Saturday.

We had more north of the border visitors this weekend with Chris (back) and Joey (right) stopping by from Halifax.  Their weekend included the Egg Bowl and the Iron Bowl. Come back anytime, guys!
I can't remember a better tasting win!  We started the day with sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs and more cooked in Tri-State One, our tailgating trailer.  Add to that a blow out win over Auburn and top it off with steak and potatos for our post game meal!  Our best tailgating meal of the season, easily!

We're starting the planning session for the 2009 season now!
